Travel Destinations in South AfricaSouth Africa has nine provinces, each with its own distinct characteristics.
GautengGauteng is the smallest, richest, loudest, and most urbanized of our provinces but you will still find a number of lovely quiet country destinations, and loads of cultural, urban and outdoor activities. KwaZulu NatalBetween the bush, the beach and the berg, you'll find plenty to do here. And, of course, KwaZulu-Natal is the place to spend some time learning about Zulu culture and history. Eastern CapeFantastic game, wonderful cultural destinations and a range of adventure activities, including South Africa's only ski resort, offer you something a little out of the ordinary, while beautiful beaches, great golf courses and attractive towns will ensure you can relax to the max. Western CapeCape Town and the Western Cape belong to the most popular travel destinations in South Africa. Each year the Cape attracts hundreds of thousands of travelers from all over the world. One of the most beautiful cities of the world, Cape Town, is waiting to welcome the visitor. It is surrounded by glorious landscapes with unique vegetation and perfect beaches. Beautiful beaches, magnificent mountains, cute country towns and wonderful wineries - what more could you ask for? Northern CapeWide-open spaces, enormous skies, thundering waterfalls and spectacular game are the hallmarks of this arid province. In spring, a carpet of blooms softens the desert as far as the eye can see. Free StateBetween the beautiful Eastern Highlands, where rolling green hills end in golden concave cliffs, and the attractive Vaal River, lies the bulk of this, our most central province. Small towns display a wonderfully rural way of life and the capital, Bloemfontein, offers big city amenities in a small-town atmosphere. MpumalangaThere are so many wildlife destinations in this lovely province you could be excused for thinking there is nothing else. But that would be wrong. Wonderful hiking, beautiful scenery, rafting, fly-fishing and many attractive small towns make this a generally wonderful holiday destination. Northwest ProvinceClose to Johannesburg, there are a number of wonderful little hideaway spots - including the magnificent Madikwe and Pilanesberg Game Reserves. And, of course, the improbable Sun City attracts gamblers and sightseers alike. LimpopoPreviously called the Northern Province, there is so much to do here. The game-viewing is absolutely fantastic and possibly the best in the country, spectacular mountain scenery beckons hikers, climbers and bikers, while mystic cultural destinations intrigue visitors and non-local South Africans alike. |
